About My Major
As mentioned before, I am majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries Science (WFS) with a plan to pursue the wildlife option.
Wildlife and Fisheries Science includes the study of the conservation, management, ecology, behavior and identification of wildlife and fish species; the terrestrial and aquatic habitats where they live; and application of that knowledge to conserve and manage biodiversity and ecosystems. This major is heavy in the hands-on material since the best place to learn about wildlife and fish is in the outdoors. In addition, the Wildlife and Fisheries Science major is heavy on science including biology, chemistry and physics.
There are two options: Wildlife and Fisheries. Each options allows students to gain a greater depth of knowledge in their desired area. The Wildlife options and the Fisheries option meets the requirements for The Wildlife Society and the American Fisheries Society, respectively.
